Sustainability

We are driven to provide better and more sustainable utilities to our Tenants and to minimise our carbon footprint on site.

In 2011, the company installed 417Kw solar panels on the roofs of all suitable buildings on Base Business Park, allowing both the use of green electricity by tenants, and the reduction of our carbon footprint. Solar panel electricity systems, also known as solar photovoltaics (PV), capture the sun’s energy using photovoltaic cells. These cells don’t need direct sunlight to work – they can still generate some electricity on a cloudy day. The cells convert the sunlight into electricity, which can be converted to electricity. Each unit that has solar panels benefits from using green electricity, before the need to use the brown electricity.

In June 2015, we installed a bio mass boiler which heats using woodchip instead of oil. This boiler heats many of our industrial units, workshops and offices offering low cost and instant heat. All our wood chips are sourced from renewable sources. These come from local suppliers, which means that we limit the impact that the lorries have on the environment when delivering the wood chips to us.

We are continuing to look at new ways to ensure that we provide the best and cleanest ways to provide heat and energy to our Tenants.
